Facility report:
-
- EEG
- Begin using EEG caps to enable current techs to transition to running EEGs
- Faster setup
- No training in international 10/20 system necessary
- Techs given information on EEG Primer to aid in pattern recognition
- Keep current time of 1.5 hours
- Will need 10ml syringes and blunt tips for injecting conductive gel
- Will likely need 2 each of small, medium and large caps with a back-up for each
- Instruction given as to proper documentation during test
- Will need further training but XXXX has shown great interest and some understanding of test
- Visual Evoked Potentials
- Protocol changed on Cadwell to reflect standard Queen’s square setup
- Had been using Oz to Cz reference with ground only
- Both technologists trained and able to perform testing accurately
- NCT
- Previous technologist testing reviewed – poor quality with many inaccuracies
- Prior testing reviewed with new technologists as example
- Trained current technologists on testing with Cadwell equipment offering as much information and assistance as possible within the given time constraints
- XXXX has learned quickly and is a good candidate for lead position. Worth furthering her education as I feel she will absorb quickly and will be able to train others in the future
- XXXX shows understanding but lacks confidence in her ability. I am confident she will advance quickly, however
- Not enough time to cover more complicated and less-common testing (repetitive stimulation, femoral motor nerve, medial and lateral antebrachial cutaneous,
spinal accessory nerve, facial nerves, etc.) - Instructional handbook given to aid in self-study
- Interviewed prospective technologist involving XXXX - not a good candidate Discussed extending time slots with administration to allow for more accurate, less rushed testing
- Address Pt. questions, allow time for Pt to change if necessary, allow for warming Pt. if necessary
- Discussed further evaluation and education over Zoom or similar with
administration
- EEG
I feel the current practice, with a few minor time slot and equipment changes and further EEG
training, will soon be functioning smoothly with the addition of XXXX and XXXX. I do recommend continuing their education with occasional evaluations of skills and testing quality. but I do not believe either will deviate from the standards they have been given.
